2009 Polar Bear Plunge

This was our 3rd year doing the Polar Bear Plunge and we made it happen once again. As a team we raise $3,020 to be donated to the Maryland Special Olympics. This by far was the coldest year we have ever done. The water was in the 30’s and so was our body temperature. Most of the club attended the event even though some punked out at the last minute to actually plunge. Maybe in 2010 our usual suspects that don’t plunge, but come and drink for support will actually grow a pair and plunge for a good cause. We learn a little bit more every year with the vent growing to over 10,000 people we need to get there really early if we are going to get a spot at the park. We ended up parking at the Naval Academy and taking the bus down. We got lucky this year with waiting in line for the buses. In years past it took hours. It was not too bad this year. So far as a club we have raised about $9,000 in the past 3 years for the Maryland Special Olympics. We enjoy the event and will see you in 2010.
